Welcome to the CRAG web site.
CRAG's mission is to provide "a periodic
forum where professionals and others who work with historical records in archival and manuscript repositories and elsewhere may gather to learn about new ideas and techniques, to discuss common concerns, and to enjoy each others' company." In other words, we offer a chance for you to meet and mingle with colleagues and perhaps learn a thing or two in an informal setting. At least, we used to.
CRAG was founded in 1989 as an independent group formed as an outgrowth
of the Committee on Hartford Historical Resources and the Pioneer Valley
Archival Group. Geographically, CRAG roughly spans the
Amherst-Springfield-Hartford region, but we have attendees from beyond that as well. Meetings and events are generally held throughout the area three times a year, in winter, spring, and fall, and consist of a variety of formats. (See the events page for more information.) You're welcome to come for any or all of the meeting.
CRAG's operation is handled by a volunteer
committee which coordinates meetings with member assistance.
Membership in CRAG is free and open
to all. To be added to the email list, contact Leith Johnson. Information that is emailed is also posted on this website, so if you're not on the email list you can always check here for any updates.

Most importantly, you can attend meetings (if we ever have any again) and get to know your colleagues in an informal setting.
